i dont know much about 4x4 systems. im wanting to take my 04 f150 4x4, and build the 4x4 so i can race it in 4x4/allwheel drive on the street with the smaller cars. i have been searching on the net but i cant find anything telling me the diff from 4x4 and allwheel drive. or what i would need to do to drive my truck at high speeds in 4x4
i dont know if this is a real idea.... just an idea....
but if it will not work i will just have to find a use two wheel drive.

i know that 4x4 is not the same as all wheel drive. but if a car can race in a.w.d, then how can i make my truck do the same.

a.w.d. has a transfer case that unevenly divides the power to the wheels and it is locked in full time-a 4x4 has a transfer case that distributes power evenly to the front and rear differentials and only works when manually locked in. this even power distribution is bad for hard surfaces such as pavement because when you steer the front wheels they change ratios causing binding. you can use this system on soft surfaces such as dirt, mud and snow without problem because the ground will give, allowing the front to not cause a problem when binding. on dry pavement and 4x4 you will be spending a lot of money and time repairing the system.
