I have a bone stock (except for new 4" exhaust) 97 Dodge Ram 2500 automatic, 5.9 diesel. I pull a 25' trailer and the truck does an adequate job but a little more horsepower would be nice for the hills etc. I'm told a cam plate will give me what I'm looking for.
My question is how much extra horsepower will my auto tranny take before it twists right out or packs it in? What does a cam plate do to fuel economy?
Anybody have any thoughts or experience with this?

Thanx in advance

When I installed my 4in exhaust I also changed to a bigger air filter. I put in an AFE kit. I feel it makes a difference

Wow a 97 Ram. Old school. Well I have an 2005 Ram 1500 . Anyways, have you thought about a performance chip like Jet Performance? When I bought my Ram 1500 it had it in it already.
